Tiberius Claudius Drusus was born in Lugdunum. Fifty years later, against all expectations, he would be proclaimed emperor. The exhibition highlights the life and the reign of Claude through more than 150 works: statues, bas-reliefs, cameos and coins, objects of everyday life, history painting, etc.

The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Art Fair, presented by Art Miami and sponsored by the City of West Palm Beach, will return for its third edition in West Palm Beach City’s Tent Site (825 S Dixie Hwy & Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach), on Thursday, January 10th through Monday, January 13th, 2019. The fair will open on Thursday evening with an exclusive VIP Preview at 5:00pm.

As the newest addition to the prestigious Art Miami Group, which is celebrating its 29th year, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary brings a world-class art fair to Palm Beach. The fair, which curates and offers the best investment quality works from the 20th and 21st centuries, will take place in the intimate and modern setting of a 65,000-square-foot clear span pavilion centrally located between CityPlace and the luxurious Hilton West Palm Beach.

Collectors, art connoisseurs and art world luminaries alike will have the opportunity to acquire investment quality Blue Chip, Modern and Contemporary, and Post-War works from more than 50 top international galleries over the five days of the fair during Martin Luther King holiday weekend.

These premier galleries will come from as far as Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, The Netherlands, Portugal, and Venezuela. Participating galleries have previously been featured in numerous prominent international fairs including TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, The Armory Show, Masterpiece London, Art Miami, Expo Chicago, and many others.

Christine Lashley studied as a teen in Paris at the Parsons Art Institute and the Sorbonne, continuing on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. Christine’s paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, winning many First Place awards for both landscape and figurative work. In the past few years she has won numerous honors at Plein Air events, including the 2018 Best Light in the Landscape Award at Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, and 2017 Quick Draw First Place at both Richmond Plein Air and Bucks County Plein Air. She has won multiple awards at several Oil Painter's of America (OPA) juried shows including Best Landscape at the 27th OPA National (2018). Her work has been published in North Light Books, American Artist Magazine, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, Plein Air Magazine, and the Washington Post. Christine's art was the cover of Plein Air Magazine's Oct./Nov. issue, 2018, with a feature article on her work.

Huntington Arts Council : Call to artists, Objects Found, Early Deadline Dec. 21.2018

OBJECTS FOUND

ENTRY DEADLINE DECEMBER 21, 2018
The "Objects Found" exhibition will feature artwork that incorporates salvaged materials. During the creative process, consider still lifes, Joseph Cornell's ephemera-filled boxes, Tim Noble's and Sue Webster's discarded item assemblages, Jim Golden's object photography, Jane Perkins' 3D-collage portraits, etc. Use items you've found or collected-from twigs, buttons, and antiques to toys, textiles, etc.-to complete your work. 
Juror Tara Leale Porter of Red Lotus Fused Glass Art creates a narrative in her artwork through a dialogue of materials. She interweaves her fused glass with found objects that have a time-worn patina to construct stories of destruction and regeneration. Leale Porter has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and a Master of Arts in Art Therapy via Hofstra University.
